Junior Full-Stack Developer (PHP) - Hybrid working

It's an exciting time at Comparitec. With 2027 on the horizon, we're looking to supercharge our roadmap and expand our software team. You will be working on mobile apps, REST APIs and customer-facing websites.

We're a cutting-edge FinTech company based in Chester, building and developing disruptive finance propositions and generating thousands of customers daily. We're made up of a team of experts from all different backgrounds who aren't afraid to try and revolutionise the financial market.

Across our businesses:

Creditec: our Credit Matching platform, which allows partners to provide a marketplace of financial products to their customers.

thimbl: a challenger credit card, currently in the process of launching thimbl IQ, a financial wellness app to help customers better understand their credit profile.

Digitonomy: connects consumers with the relevant financial product they're searching for through slick journeys and beautiful marketing.

About the role and what we're looking for

You love software development and want to continue to grow your skill set

You will help to build, maintain and scale business-critical software

You appreciate the importance of software quality

In collaboration with the wider business, you will be involved in decision making and contributing your ideas to shape the product

You are willing to work on greenfield projects and to work to modernise legacy apps

Technical experience

Essential

Experience of software development in a commercial environment

Experience of PHP 8 with modern PHP frameworks (e.g. Laravel, Symfony)

Relational databases (e.g. MySQL, MSSQL, AWS Aurora)

Experience of modern front-end technologies or willingness to learn (e.g. React, Vue, Tailwind)

Experience building and consuming REST APIs

Desirable

Serverless infrastructure

Document databases (e.g. MongoDB, DocumentDB)

Cloud platforms (AWS, Google, Microsoft)

AI coding agents

Automated testing

Pay: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
