Job Title: Mid / Senior WordPress Developer

Reporting to: Senior Website Developer

Location: Chesterfield, UK – On-site (5 days in the office)

About Superior Wellness

Superior Wellness designs and distributes premium hot tubs, swim spas, saunas and wellness products. Our brands include Platinum Spas, AquaSolus, Portcril, Chill Tubs, HEKLA and The Wellness Co, and we sell across the UK, EU and US. We are looking for an experienced WordPress Developer to take ownership of our web estate.

The Role

You will build and look after our brand websites and the network of partner sites we create for our dealers. This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You will make technical decisions, improve how we build and deploy, and work closely with marketing, design and product teams. At senior level, you will also set coding standards and help shape the team as it grows.

Key Responsibilities

Development

Build and maintain custom WordPress themes, child themes and plugins, including custom Gutenberg blocks with Carbon Fields

Extend WooCommerce for product catalogues, pricing and lead generation

Build new partner websites, from brief to launch

Build and maintain internal tools and integrations in Laravel and through REST APIs

Performance, SEO and Tracking

Own Core Web Vitals, technical SEO, structured data and site speed across all sites

Plan and deliver site migrations without losing search visibility

Set up and maintain GA4, Google Tag Manager and conversion tracking

Infrastructure and Process

Manage hosting on Cloudways

Build and maintain CI/CD deployment workflows

Improve our Git workflow and staging environments

What We're Looking For

Essential

Able to work 5 days a week from our Chesterfield office

3+ years of commercial WordPress development (5+ for senior)

Strong PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML and CSS/SASS

Experience building custom themes and plugins from scratch, not just configuring page builders

WooCommerce development experience

Confident with Git and local development environments

Regular use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, with the judgement to review, test and correct what they produce

Able to manage your own workload and explain technical decisions to non-technical colleagues

Desirable

Laravel experience

Multilingual sites (TranslatePress or WPML)

Experience leading projects and liaising directly with clients
