Software Engineer (Leeds)

Role PurposeYou will be responsible for the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of VICTVS' web applications and digital services. The role will deliver secure, reliable and user-focused technical solutions that support business operations, enhance customer experience and contribute to the successful growth of the organisation.Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, you will develop new functionality, maintain existing systems, resolve technical issues and contribute to the delivery of innovative digital solutions.You will demonstrate strong technical expertise, excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities whilst maintaining high standards of quality, security and performance.About VICTVSVICTVS is a global assessment services provider, delivering secure, technology-enabled examinations and accreditation solutions to professional bodies, awarding organisations and international institutions. The company combines operational excellence with innovative technology to ensure integrity, scalability and an exceptional candidate experience.ResponsibilitiesSoftware Development & Engineering:Develop, maintain and enhance VICTVS' web applications and digital services in line with business requirements and strategic objectives.Design, build and deploy high-quality, scalable and maintainable software solutions using approved technologies and development frameworks.Produce clean, efficient and well-documented code in accordance with development standards and best practice.Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.Application Support & Maintenance:Monitor, maintain and optimise existing applications, ensuring high levels of availability, performance and reliability.Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve software defects, technical issues and user-reported problems in a timely manner.Support system and server upgrades, integrations and migrations as required.Maintain accurate development documentation, technical specifications and change records.Provide expert technical support and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders where required.Information Security & Compliance:Develop and maintain applications in accordance with OWASP secure development principles and industry best practices.Identify, assess and remediate application security vulnerabilities and technical risks.Support compliance with data protection, information security and relevant ISO27001 and other regulatory requirements.Ensure appropriate testing, validation and quality assurance measures are completed prior to deployment.Technical Innovation & Continuous Improvement:Research emerging technologies, tools and development approaches that could enhance business operations and customer experience.Identify opportunities to improve application performance, user experience, efficiency and maintainability.Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance development quality, productivity and service delivery.Maintain and develop professional knowledge and technical expertise through continuous learning and development.Reporting & Administration:Maintain accurate records of development activity, project progress and support requests through Jira, Git and Bitbucket.Produce regular updates and reports on assigned tasks, projects and system performance to the team through daily standups.Ensure development work is completed in accordance with company procedures, policies and quality standards.Qualifications & ExperienceKnowledge of the following is essential:Object-Oriented PHP programmingLaravel PHP frameworkSQL/NoSQL databasesRESTful API implementationCode versioning tools like Git and BitbucketFrontend technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptREACTTypeScriptLAMP stack hostingPerson SpecificationExcellent project management skills (essential)Very well organised with the ability to work to deadlinesSelf-disciplined and diligentDegree / post-grad or equivalent experience in a relevant field preferredExperience building, developing and maintaining websitesExperience creating user experience-based designAn understanding of OWASP DevelopmentStrong team working skillsEnjoys challenges and having to create new solutionsWhat VICTVS OffersOpportunity to shape next-generation assessment solutions.A collaborative and forward-thinking working environment.Exposure to international clients and markets.Competitive remuneration package.Working arrangementsUnfortunately we can't accept home-based applicants for this role.We operate a hybrid working approach.
