<p><b>Position:</b> Platform Lead (DevOps, Infrastructure & Engineering Enablement)<br/><b>Location:</b> Harrogate (Hybrid: ideally 2/3 days per week onsite, flexible for the right<br/>candidate)</p><p><b>About Pass Tech</b><br/>Pass Tech is a leading name in EdTech, transforming how organisations deliver<br/>learning and training through our cutting-edge platform. We’re trusted by some of the<br/>UK’s most recognisable organisations; including the NHS, Police Forces, and<br/>Manchester City Football Club.</p><p>As we continue our rapid growth, we’re strengthening the foundations of our<br/>technology platform and are looking for an experienced Platform Lead to own,<br/>evolve, and future-proof our infrastructure and DevOps capabilities.</p><p><b>The Opportunity</b><br/>We’re seeking a highly capable and hands-on Platform Lead to take ownership of the<br/>technical platform that underpins our Laravel and WordPress applications.<br/>This is a critical role within our Engineering function, focused on ensuring our<br/>platform is secure, scalable, performant, and reliable, while enabling development<br/>teams to ship high-quality software quickly and safely.</p><p>You’ll work closely with engineers, QA, product leadership, and the CTO to define<br/>platform standards, improve deployment confidence, and ensure our infrastructure<br/>scales smoothly as the business grows.</p><p><b>What You’ll Be Doing</b></p><ul><li>Design, provision, and maintain Linux-based infrastructure across cloud and VPS</li></ul><p>environments.</p><ul><li>Own and manage the web stack, including NGINX, PHP-FPM, databases, caching</li></ul><p>layers, and queue/job processing services.</p><ul><li>Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance across QA, staging, and</li></ul><p>production environments.</p><ul><li>Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code and repeatable provisioning</li></ul><p>processes.</p><p>DevOps & CI/CD:</p><ul><li>Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Laravel and WordPress</li></ul><p>projects.</p><ul><li>Automate build, test, and deployment workflows to reduce manual overhead.</li><li>Improve deployment reliability, rollback strategies, and overall release confidence.</li><li>Enable safe, frequent deployments through robust automation and tooling.</li></ul><p>Security & Reliability</p><ul><li>Own the platform’s security posture, including patching, access control, secrets</li></ul><p>management, and monitoring.</p><ul><li>Implement secure deployment practices and clear environment separation.</li><li>Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and resilience improvements.</li><li>Ensure effective backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes are in</li></ul><p>place.</p><p>Testing & Quality Enablement:</p><ul><li>Enable and support automated testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end).</li><li>Ensure CI pipelines enforce quality gates such as automated tests, linting, and static</li></ul><p>analysis.</p><ul><li>Work closely with QA to improve release confidence and reduce production issues.</li></ul><p>Observability & Monitoring</p><ul><li>Implement and maintain logging, monitoring, and alerting across the platform.</li><li>Track uptime, performance, and error rates across environments.</li><li>Use metrics and insights to proactively improve platform stability and reliability.</li></ul><p>Engineering Enablement & Leadership:</p><ul><li>Act as a technical escalation point for infrastructure and deployment-related issues.</li><li>Define platform standards, best practices, and technical documentation.</li><li>Support and mentor developers on DevOps and platform-related topics.</li><li>Collaborate closely with engineering leads and the CTO to shape platform strategy.</li></ul><p><b>What We’re Looking For</b></p><ul><li>Strong experience with Linux server administration.</li><li>Deep understanding of hosting and operating PHP-based platforms, including</li></ul><p>Laravel and WordPress.</p><ul><li>Proven experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.</li><li>Experience with cloud infrastructure and server provisioning (DigitalOcean</li></ul><p>experience is beneficial).• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, or similar).</p><ul><li>Strong understanding of security best practices for modern web platforms.</li><li>Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.</li><li>Confidence troubleshooting and resolving production issues under pressure.</li></ul><p><b>Desirable Experience</b></p><ul><li>Experience leading or owning a shared engineering or platform function.</li><li>Knowledge of containerisation (Docker) and/or orchestration tooling.</li><li>Experience supporting high-traffic or SaaS platforms.</li><li>Familiarity with compliance or security frameworks</li></ul><p>Job Type: Full-time</p><p>Pay: £60,000.00-£70,000.00 per year</p><p>Benefits:</p><ul><li>On-site parking</li><li>Work from home</li></ul><p>Work Location: Hybrid remote in Harrogate HG3 2XA</p>
