We&rsquo;re trusted by some of the UK&rsquo;s most recognisable organisations; including the NHS, Police Forces, and Manchester City Football Club.</p><p>As we continue our rapid growth, we&rsquo;re expanding our Engineering team and are looking for an experienced Senior Laravel Engineer to help deliver the next generation of our platform.</p><p><b>The Opportunity</b></p><p>We&rsquo;re looking for a Senior Laravel Engineer to take ownership of delivering complex, end-to-end features across our back-end and front-end systems.</p><p>This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, takes pride in high-quality code, and wants to make a meaningful impact on a growing SaaS platform. You&rsquo;ll act as a senior technical contributor, translating product and business requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions, while setting a strong example for engineering best practices.</p><p>You&rsquo;ll work closely with other engineers, QA, Platform, and Product teams to continuously improve our technology, processes, and delivery standards.</p><p><b>What You&rsquo;ll Be Doing</b></p><ul><li>Own the delivery of complex features from technical design through to implementation and release.</li><li>Design, build, and maintain scalable Laravel applications and APIs.</li><li>Translate business and product requirements into well-architected technical solutions.</li><li>Improve system quality by identifying recurring issues, patterns, and opportunities for standardisation.</li><li>Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancement of existing systems.</li></ul><ul><li>Ensure high standards of code quality, security, performance, and accessibility across the full application stack.</li><li>Improve application performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.</li><li>Lead the resolution of production issues and security vulnerabilities.</li><li>Write, maintain, and evolve comprehensive automated test suites.</li></ul><ul><li>Work closely with engineers across back-end, front-end, QA, and Platform teams.</li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, business stakeholders, and other engineers to deliver elegant solutions.</li><li>Review code and provide clear, constructive feedback to other developers.</li><li>Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers through hands-on collaboration and technical leadership by example.</li></ul><ul><li>Contribute actively to Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews.</li><li>Help elevate engineering standards and consistently apply best practices across the team.</li><li>Balance multiple competing priorities with minimal supervision, managing your own workload effectively.</li></ul><p><b>What We&rsquo;re Looking For</b></p><ul><li>Extensive experience with the Laravel framework in a production environment.</li><li>Strong experience building APIs and services (REST, SOAP, or similar).</li><li>Solid experience working with MySQL and relational data models.</li><li>Strong front-end experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and tooling, including TypeScript and Vue 3 (Vue 2 experience beneficial).</li><li>Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.</li><li>Familiarity with modern infrastructure and cloud technologies such as Docker, Linux, and NGINX.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of Git and collaborative version control practices.</li><li>Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.</li><li>A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a passion for delivering practical, high-quality solutions.</li></ul><p><b>Desirable Experience</b></p><ul><li>Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and collaborating closely with DevOps or Platform teams.</li><li>Previous experience mentoring or coaching developers.</li><li>Experience building or supporting SaaS or high-traffic platforms.</li><li>Specialism or deep experience in automated testing frameworks.</li></ul><p><b>What Success Looks Like</b></p><ul><li>Features are delivered reliably, on time, and to a high standard.</li><li>Systems remain performant, secure, and easy to maintain as the platform grows.</li><li>Junior and mid-level engineers feel supported and continue to improve.</li><li>Production incidents are rare, well-managed, and learned from.</li></ul><p><b>How We Work</b></p><ul><li>Hybrid working with a friendly Harrogate office for collaboration days.</li><li>Agile delivery with two-week sprints managed through Jira.</li><li>Close collaboration across Engineering, QA, Platform, and Product teams.</li><li>Multiple QA and staging environments to support high-quality releases.</li><li>A strong culture of code quality, testing, and continuous improvement.</li></ul><p><b>Our Tech Stack</b></p><p><b>Core Platform</b></p><ul><li>Backend: PHP 8, Laravel, MySQL 8, Service-Oriented Architecture</li><li>Frontend: Vue 3 (with some Vue 2 legacy), TypeScript, jQuery (legacy)</li><li>Testing: CucumberJS, Selenium</li><li>Caching &amp;
