We are recruiting for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Semestry Engineering Team, specifically working on our TermTime software. TermTime is a comprehensive software solution designed to address timetabling and scheduling challenges in higher education institutions. It offers a range of features to help universities plan, build, deliver, and operate schedules efficiently. It aims to enhance curriculum planning and improve the overall learning experience for students and faculty by providing insights and managing scheduling constraints.

This is a full time permanent role, offering a fully remote working arrangement with occasional travel when required.

The Role

<br><br>

As a Senior Software Engineer you will be designing, developing, and maintaining our comprehensive timetabling and scheduling solutions. Not only that, you will also be part of the team who are reimagining this product, redeveloping and creating a brand new innovative and functional advanced platform for our customers! Your responsibilities will include:

<br><br>

Creating scalable software solutions by writing clean, efficient and maintainable code.

<br>Ensuring software quality by identifying and fixing bugs, writing integration tests and implementing secure coding practices.

<br>Working in partnership with a Software Architect, other developers and testers to deliver high-quality features.

<br>Updating and improving existing software to enhance performance and functionality as well as writing code for our new TermTime v9 release.

<br>Analysing and addressing technical challenges to find effective solutions, both in legacy and modern code bases.

<br>Recommend ideas on how the product can be developed and improved to enhance performance and usability.

<br><br>

<b>The skills you’ll need:</b><br>

Proven experience in full stack Web development.

<br>Strong skills in PHP, Laravel and React, including testing.

<br>Comfortable working at pace.

<br>An understanding of best-practice related to crafting secure, efficient and high quality code.

<br>Experience in agile methodologies.

<br><br>

<b>It would be great if you had:</b><br>

An understanding of best-practice database design for building efficient applications.

<br>Experience with API design and 3rd party system integrations.

<br>Experience with containerised applications.

<br>Exposure to deploying code to (ServerLess) cloud infrastructure using CI/CD pipelines.

<br><br>

Experience in redeveloping a product from grass roots to deployment.
